Anchusa capensis
Summer forget-me not "Blue Angel" - Anchusa capensis.
This is a South African plant. Annual. Sky-blue, forget-me-not-like flowers will certainly attract the attention of a plant lover.
Slender compact plants 40-70 cm high with pubescent stems branching from the base are planted in flower beds, groups or arrays. They can decorate any mixborder.
Small, 1.3-1.5 cm in diameter, blue flowers with a small white eye are collected in loose inflorescences-curls 16-18 cm long. There are so many flowers on each plant that they create a dense blue carpet.
Location: Anchusa is light-loving, cold-resistant and drought-resistant. Prefers clay limed soils.
Reproduction: seeds. Usually grown as seedlings, but can be sown in the ground. The seeds are small: 400 pieces in 1 g. To obtain 100 plants, 0.5 g of seeds are needed. Shoots appear on the 7th - 9th day after sowing. Seedlings are planted 20-25 cm apart. When sown in mid-April, anchusa blooms in early July and blooms until late frosts. In hot weather, the plants need to be watered.
Use: low-growing varieties and forms are good in pots, in boxes on balconies. Tall forms are beautiful in bouquets.
